Hot, Hot, Hot!

Vietnam's every bit as hot as I remember.  I think I may have coped with it better when I was in my 20's.

We had a fabulous breakfast, including pho, this morning before we got started.  Once we hit the street, it was complete pandemonium.  I don't know that I have ever been anywhere with more motorbikes and less traffic control in my life. Crossing any street requires a leap of faith, and stopping, even for a minute to look at a map, invites a horde of cyclo drivers, touts and sweet sellers.

We walked all over the old town area, poked our heads into a couple of Buddhist temples,

stopped for a drink in the Metropole Hotel bar,

and returned to the hotel for a jet-lagged induced nap.  An excellent dinner at the Essence Hotel restaurant capped off the day.

We spend tomorrow at various Hanoi sights and then leave by train for the northern mountains at Sa Pa.  Today's photos are on Facebook.  More tomorrow.
